The Dancing Man is one of a kind. Situated in what was formerly known as The Wool House, the Grade I listed building was this year transformed into the first brewery Southampton has seen. The transformation stays faithful to the building's rich history. It has been standing firm since 1338 and was used to store wool exports to Europe.

Nowadays you won't find any wool but what you will discover is a great beer and a full menu of fresh food. Everything is cooked from scratch so your traditional, hearty pie with mash is well worth the wait. Choose from Shamrock Pie, Pilgrim's Pale Ale Pie or a daily special vegan or vegetarian pie, which can be eaten in the brewery bar, restaurant or outside with a view. Other tasty meals from the menu include fresh baguettes, beef rag and bone, and a falafel and halloumi burger. You can also order a pint of pretzels if you get peckish while you're waiting. Of course, the award-winning brewed beer and ale will be a highlight for hop-lovers, with six different flavours available, and, as most of the beer is unfined, it is vegan and vegetarian friendly too.

Downstairs at The Dancing Man is where you'll find the open-plan six barrel plant and bar, and is also where you can see the brewers making the beer while you sup the produce. And, while upstairs houses the restaurant, the space can also be hired as a venue for weddings and functions. Whatever the reason, this unique and historical brewhouse is definitely worth a visit
