After a stroll along the marina arriving at the newly opened Bacaro was like being transported to Venice. The warm welcome from the attentive team assured us we had chosen well as we admired the spectacular well-stocked bar, and the long, rustic wooden tables around which guests were sipping cocktails and sharing conversation.
Seated comfortably in the spacious dining area, we quaffed classic organic merlot, and selected some of the small plates from the extensive menu. Especially hungry, we opted for the crispy chilli squid, and the pork and beef meatballs in a tomato and chilli sauce.Next, we enjoyed a freshly made rustic pizzetta topped with spicy Ventricina salami and spinach. The fresh and exciting flavours leave you wanting more, and the concept is simple: the dishes arrive at your table as and when they’re ready, giving you the opportunity to try lots of different dishes. My dessert was wonderful; a concoction of raspberry and vanilla panna cotta presented on a flower-bedecked plate, decorated with toffee brittle and tiny meringues. My partner chose an affogato – vanilla ice cream laced with coffee liqueur, which left him smiling.
Whether it’s drinks on the sunny terrace, a family celebration, an informal business meeting or a romantic meal for two, Bacaro’s beautiful food, partnered with excellent service, offers Italian dining at its best.
