The Bear at Home
High Street, North Moreton, OX11 9AT
Father-and-daughter team Patrick and Lucy invite you to their family-run free house in North Moreton. Within the walls of this charming 16th-century pub, you can be sure of a warm welcome. Log fires crackle throughout winter and a range of good-quality real ales and excellent, affordable food tempts in passersby anytime of the year. The pub is listed in the 2016 edition of the Good Beer Guide and the South Oxfordshire branch of CAMRA voted the Bear at Home the Pub of the Season for summer 2015. The winning formula is having four real ale on offer, two of which are always available, – one being Timothy Taylor’s Landlord and the other, the Bear Beer, which is brewed specially for the pub by local award-winning producer West Berkshire Brewery. Two other guest ales are also always available, normally provided by other local breweries. The food showcases a blend of the traditional and contemporary, and is always freshly prepared on-site. A staple of the menu is the Bear burger, which is handmade with chuck steak mince to the pub’s own recipe, and is always in demand. Specials on the board are crafted according to the season and local ingredients available. Booking your spot is recommended, particularly at weekends – there is a separate Sunday menu that puts emphasis on Sunday roasts. In the summer, Moreton Cricket Club plays regularly on the adjoining cricket pitch. The highlight of the season has to be the beer and cricket festival held over the last weekend in July. Special occasions can be catered for in the function room, which is available for private hire. This really is a pub that can meet all your requirements.
