Amid beautiful Oxfordshire countryside, Lakeside Restaurant lies in the grand surroundings of the Victorian Springs Hotel & Golf Club. This Tudor-style mansion boasts 32 beautiful bedrooms and excellent leisure and golfing facilities, so is perfect for that much-needed getaway or special celebration you've been planning. The Lakeside Restaurant within has recently been refurbished - the new neutral colour scheme is welcoming and calming, leading the eye to the expansive windows with views over the spring-fed lake and perfectly kept grounds. Though there is a fresh, clean, contemporary look, the owners have been careful to retain the restaurant's country-house feel. It is here that head chef Paul Franklin creates a menu of modern European dishes using only the freshest ingredients of the finest quality. An evening meal might start with spinach, pine nut and goat's cheese ravioli with tomato and basil sauce - delicate and creamy morsels offset by the rich sauce. Moving onto the main course, you can expect such delights as honey-roasted breast of duck with pak choi and fondant potato with kumquat and brandy sauce. Lunch is equally decadent, but offers two and three-course options at a very reasonable £13.50 and £16.50 respectively. Should you visit for the Sunday carvery, you're in for quite a treat. Begin with a starter from the buffet table, such as delicious homemade soup, before tucking into roast beef with Yorkshire pudding and then finish with either a fabulous dessert or cheese and biscuits. This is country-house dining at its best.
