The Kings Head and Bell
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
10 East St Helen Street, Abingdon, OX14 5EA
What a great fi nd this historic pub is. The Kings Head and Bell has had some very notable guests over the years, including King Charles I, who held a council of war here, and the composer, Handel. Lovingly restored by the current owners, it offers everything you could want from a coaching inn, including plenty of original features such as open fires and a cobbled coaching arch. There are also beautiful function rooms and one of the best courtyard gardens in the area. The menu features freshly cooked, traditional British dishes with a modern twist, all made using local ingredients. Sunday roasts are particularly popular. There is even an outside kitchen during the summer, so you can watch your meal being prepared while basking in the sunshine. The pub offers a regularly changing selection of local cask and craft ales. The Kings Head and Bell is a great choice, whether for a drink or a meal, and families and dogs are welcome.
