In early 2014, Bob Wyatt realised his dream and transformed The Red Lion in Cholsey into a beautifully shabby-chic venue, serving elegant adaptations of traditional pub cuisine. Popular from the get-go, The Red Lion has become a hub of lively entertainment, delicious food and a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere. '...a beautifully shabby-chic venue, serving elegant adaptations of traditional pub cuisine...' Locality takes centre stage on the pub's menu, with meat purchased from the local butcher, whilst fruit and vegetables are chosen to bring the best of the season to the table. In addition to the children's and lunch menus, The Red Lion also offers an à la carte with plenty of variety. The starters include Oxfordshire asparagus soup with black pepper cream, whilst the mains selection comprises the likes of Watlington pork loin with Stornoway black pudding, creamy mash and apple sauce, and West Hagbourne grilled rib-eye, accompanied by chips, roasted vine tomatoes and a peppercorn sauce. If you've any room left, there's also a range of classic desserts, such as a superb cheeseboard, and a Bramley apple and raspberry crumble, doused in a generous helping of custard. '...guests feel welcome from the moment they step through the door...' The bar is home to a vast collection of beverages, both alcoholic and soft, including up to four cask ales on rotation and a range of beers, including varieties from Ringwood, Adnams and Timothy Taylor. There are also plenty of wines to choose from, each descriptively listed to allow guests to choose the perfect beverage to accompany their meal. The Red Lion regularly hosts evening entertainment, with a monthly jazz night and a folk session on the first Monday of each month. Be sure to visit the Facebook page for the latest events and news. The staff at the pub are exemplary, making guests feel welcome from the moment they step through the door.
