Set back a little from the street in an attractively restored period building in Old Beaconsfield, Loch Fyne offers convenient on-site parking at the front and a secluded outdoor seating area at the back. Inside, the decor lends an appropriately crisp, nautical feel thanks to its white tiles, pale wooden panels and exposed white beams.

Fish is the star of the menu, with options including succulent Loch Fyne oysters and generous portions of line-caught cod or haddock with mushy peas and tartare sauce. Lap up the great-value, ever-changing set menu and enjoy two courses for only £10.95 or three for £12.95 per person. Begin with crispy sprats, and move on to mains of king prawn spaghetti or classic fi sh fi nger sandwich in a brioche bun. Alternatively, choose from the fish bar and have your catch pan-fried, grilled or steamed, and served with your choice of two vegetable side dishes.

As befits the focus on fish, a great selection of white and sparkling wines is available by the bottle and the glass. Loch Fyne’s weekend breakfasts are always popular, whether it’s an indulgent full Scottish or smoked haddock, melted Cheddar, bacon and poached egg muffin.
