The Bistro at Haguelands

Haguelands Village, Burmarsh, TN29 0JR
Haguelands Farm lies in the charming village of Burmarsh. A fully working farm, it also runs a family-orientated visitors' centre. In the summer, enjoy the maize maze, alpaca trekking, other animals, paintballing and a quiz trail - alongside the all-yearround attractions, including an artisan gift shop, farm shop brim-full of the best local produce, and a fresh fish market.

Nestled within the Haguelands Village is the comforting but contemporary Bistro at Haguelands. It specialises in local fish and game, and everything is prepared from scratch and to a commendable sourcing ethos. Talented head chef and owner Ruth Denzey and her team create a menu that changes to reflect the seasons and availability - with every dish prepared to order in full view of diners.

Start with homemade pheasant, rabbit and pork terrine, or a crisp goat's cheese, feta and bacon filo. Follow this with crunchy crackling atop slow-roast pork belly immersed in damson gravy, smooth butternut squash and red pesto risotto, or perhaps pan-fried gurnard with lemon and rosemary butter - all accompanied by relaxing music. If you've come with children, the bistro offers a warm welcome with baby purées made to order. This wonderful eatery also hosts feature nights, including a summer open-air opera and cinema. For budding chefs, The Bistro also encompasses The Garden of England Cook School for both adults and children, where you can learn exactly how to recreate that delicious meal.
