Tucked away in the picturesque Kent Downs, opposite Hodsoll Street village green, is The Green Man. The independent family-run pub delights visitors with its excellent locally sourced fare – expect a set lunch menu, an elegant à la carte and a sumptuous Sunday roast. My wife started with juicy king prawns with piquant chilli sauce, while I opted for a breaded crispy egg with a fresh micro salad, delicious truffle mayo and elegant Parmesan tuiles. For the main course I enjoyed succulent chicken supreme with sautéed potatoes in a flavoursome chorizo jus. My wife chose equally well with harissa salmon, Moroccan-spiced quinoa, lentils and spelt. The accompanying bed of roasted butternut squash, olives, lime yogurt and pomegranate molasses made this a uniquely delectable dish. We finished happily, with an irresistibly tangy lemon and stem ginger cheesecake, and an indulgent hot chocolate fudge cake with ice cream.
