Providing undisputable proof that Argentine steak really is the best, Hugo and Aliz's El Matador pays homage to the open pastures of this verdant land in the most delicious way possible.

Achieving their quest to bring a little of Hugo's Latin heritage to leafy Sevenoaks, the dynamic duo at the head of this Argentine and Spanish restaurant is dedicated to serving superb tapas and succulent steak, exactly as you request. The interior is stylish, simply decked out and contemporary, avoiding any clichéd trappings. The service is perfectly pitched and the atmosphere relaxed yet lively - the ideal combination.

The restaurant is home to a market-style display of imported Spanish and Argentine produce and local ingredients, meaning that whatever you select will be authentic and fresh. If you opt for a steak cut, you can choose the size, whether it is stone cooked or grilled, the accompanying sauce and the sides, creating a feast tailored to you. The theatre kitchen allows you to watch the chefs at work, cooking your superb cut to a tender, juicy finish. If you're not in the mood for steak, choose a few tapas from the carefully constructed selection, which includes such culinary delights as chorizo al vino tinto - chorizo in red wine - and cogollos tempora, which sees lettuce hearts stuffed with salmon, potatoes and tempura prawns. This being a restaurant influenced by the food of Spain, it is fitting that paella be a menu staple - with chicken and chorizo, vegetarian and seafood options - but there are also delectable burgers and fresh fish dishes to choose from. Wine is taken seriously too, with the extensive list featuring plenty of choice, including an organic house from the Penedès region of Spain. Wine tasting evenings are also regularly held by the forward-thinking team.

Lounge 49 is El Matador partying sister. On the same premises as the restaurant, this lounge bar serves contemporary and classic cocktails - including the Margarita and Mojito, shaken and stirred by expert mixologists - as well as everything else needed for a sophisticated night out. Live Flamenco dancing is an oft occurring event, and the soundtrack to your evening will range from mellow beats to fusion music and Latin vibes
