The story of Bar 163 began almost 30 years ago, when the original establishment was opened with the simple intention of providing great quality home-cooked food, a well-stocked bar and a relaxed, friendly environment in which guests could enjoy both at any time of the day. It soon became a staple of Egham's drinking and dining scene and remains so to this day, although it has flourished almost beyond recognition.

As demand grew, the original dining room was expanded and a private upstairs space added, but opening a second location soon became inevitable. In 2000, Chertsey's Old Town Hall was transformed into another magnificent venue. Nowadays, both inside this stylish restaurant and out on the grand balcony, you're likely to see guests tucking into the delicious-looking, imaginative meals throughout the day and into the evening.

Lunchtime sees dishes such as chicken liver parfait with toasted brioche and onion jam, mussels cooked in a spiced tomato sauce and roasted butternut squash risotto with crumbled feta and pesto being dished up fresh for hungry afternoon diners. Come early evening, Bar 163 is a fantastic place to unwind with after-work drinks, and then, as the hours pass, the restaurant fills with families, groups of friends and couples out for evening meals. And what a treat they can all expect; pan-fried fillet of sea bream with lemon and thyme risotto; roasted pork belly served with black pudding and apple and red wine sauce; and herb-roasted rump of lamb in balsamic juices form just a tantalising sample of the excellent dishes on offer.

But that's not all; Bar 163 is a delightfully alternative spot for a wedding reception. Egham's Mediterranean garden and relaxed, informal ambience is great for a chilled out event or Chertsey offers a more glamorous affair. You don't need to be getting married, though, to make use of the facilities. Hire Egham's garden for a summer barbecue or the Balcony Room for an evening soirée; or perhaps entertain colleagues at Chertsey's Courtyard Room over a light lunch. Whichever branch you visit, the freshly prepared food and unique ambience will leave you feeling completely satisfied
