The Lodge at Winchelsea
The Lodge at Winchelsea is a little gem, situated in the beautiful East Sussex countryside between Hastings and the historic, cobblestoned town of Rye. It offers 28 comfortable en-suite bedrooms, a contemporary and well-stocked lounge-bar and a bistro-style restaurant. It boasts a four-star Visit Britain rating and has excellent disabled facilities in both the rooms and restaurant.
The Lodge Restaurant is open to the public seven days a week and serves delicious, homemade food all day. An à la carte menu, light bites, bar snacks, afternoon teas and desserts are complemented by daily specials that feature fresh ingredients sourced from the best local suppliers. Breakfast includes cooked and Continental options, while lunch offers tasty hot meals. There’s also a set three-course lunch menu priced at £11.95 (£13.95 in summer), served Monday to Saturday noon until 5.30pm. Dinner consists of a full à la carte menu with a selection of hand-picked wines. Snacks and light bites are available at the bar and desserts can be enjoyed all day. An excellent carvery is available throughout the day every Sunday, and children can choose from their own dedicated menu. There’s also a midweek carvery every Wednesday from 3pm onwards, where a delicious roast with two types of meat costs £8.95.The restaurant is the proud recipient of a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for the fifth year running. Booking is recommended, but you can always just pop in; you’re sure to find a warm welcome and something tasty to eat and drink.
