Hastings Road, Winchelsea , TN36 4AD

Set in a beautifully restored barn, enveloped by the Sussex countryside, you’ll find The Lodge at Winchelsea. This venue is a short drive from historic Hastings and provides a great stop-off on the way to Camber Sands. As well as its 28 exquisitely decorated four-star bedrooms, The Lodge boasts a bistro-style restaurant and a team of friendly staff.

Inside the restaurant, you’ll notice a refreshingly modern interior styled with clean lines and sleek finishes that creates an effortlessly stylish and comfortable environment in which to dine or take your time over a tipple. Children are welcome here and those with smaller appetites can enjoy the likes of sausage and mash and spaghetti Bolognese from the kid’s menu.

In the evening, diners are offered a varied à la carte menu, which showcases a range of British classics that are freshly prepared to order. The sirloin steak is perfectly cooked to your liking, while the beer-battered cod is crispy on the outside and delicately flaky in the middle. If you’re feeling peckish and fancy something quick, opt for one of the handmade baguettes with a delicious filling of your choice – the perfect lunchtime treat. On Sundays, the restaurant offers an ever-popular carvery. Choose from three meats and a vegetarian option, both of which are served with all the trimmings and as much gravy as your heart desires.
