Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
It's a roomy place with large Chesterfields grouped around a central bar area and a restaurant to the side, with tons of room for big social gatherings. The menu is comprehensive, with light meals and snacks at the bar and a good children's menu, but there is also a much more extensive menu with seasonal dishes and pub favourites. There is a large outdoor garden area for summer days and Sunday lunches in the sun.
We asked the waitress to recommend her favourite dish, so started with chicken and chorizo skewers in a smoky pepper coulis and tiger prawns in coconut tempura batter with sweet chilli, coriander and coconut dip. For our main courses we chose the pork on mashed potato and buttered savoy cabbage with a sage jus, which was slow cooked in goose fat for four hours, perfectly pink and melted in the mouth, while my partner had the perennial favourite duck leg confit on a mixed bean, asparagus and spinach cassoulet - perfect pub comfort food as the nights draw in. We finished off with a mango and passion fruit pavlova fool and a good coffee. What else could you need?
No sailors in The Blue Anchor then, but locals and visitors to Tadworth aplenty, dropping by for some fantastic pub fare.
