The Moderation

Andrew Becalick has 30 years of experience in running pubs and restaurants and decided to use his extensive knowledge of the industry to open The Moderation in 2007, after giving the pub a complete refurbishment. Andrew's businesses, which also include the Aroy Thai and The Queen's Head, are all heavily influenced by his passion for South-East Asia. The Moderation is packed with beautiful art and furniture from Andrew's frequent visits to Thailand and Indonesia. If any of the pieces catch your eye, then you're in luck - it's all available to buy.

The Indonesian chef has been working with Andrew since 1990 and has created a wonderful menu comprising a combination of traditional British pub food and South-East Asian cuisine. The smoked mackerel Scotch egg served with rocket and herb salad and homemade tartare sauce is a tasty starter, and can be followed with a traditional steak or one of the South-East Asian signature dishes. The nasi campur is a recommended option, as are the range of authentic curries.

The lovely garden is a wonderful alfresco dining spot in the summer and is also a great place for a private party. If you're looking for a unique way to celebrate a special occasion, the team can even provide a barbecue for your event
