The New Taj Mahal Restaurant
Indian and South Asian
It was difficult to choose just two of the 20 starters on offer, but the onion bhajee and shami kebab were light and appetising and complemented by a fresh salad garnish.
There's a wide array of main courses, from traditional curry dishes, which you can order with chicken, red meat, prawn or king prawn, to tandoori and biryani choices. The house specialities are accompanied by pilau rice and include popular dishes such as chicken tikka masala.
The restaurant prides itself on an extensive knowledge and selection of Bangladeshi dishes and these include regional dishes such as Achari chicken or lamb, which is cooked in spicy pickling sauce, slightly hot and sour and two fish specialities featuring fillet of ayre - the king of Bengali fish.
With 40 years of culinary expertise passed down the family, this relaxed and informal restaurant offers fine Indian dining that caters for all tastes, reasonably priced and highly recommended.
