Loch Fyne - Portsmouth
If you’re looking for excellent seafood in a waterside setting, look no further than Portsmouth’s Loch Fyne restaurant. Following an impressive refurbishment in June 2015, the venue is stylish but comfortable, with huge windows that let in lots of natural light. There’s a relaxed, informal feel to this popular seafood restaurant, and it’s perfectly situated for those taking a break from shopping in the Gunwharf Quays premium retail outlet.
The food is simple, with fresh, expertly prepared seafood the main focus. You’ll find plenty to fall in love with across the new menu range that brings a fusion of global flavours influenced by exotic ingredients. Should you visit for breakfast or brunch, you might find the likes of smoked haddock with a perfectly poached egg as well as a hearty full Scottish breakfast. At lunch, make the most of the Fyne Dine set menu with starters such as British crispy sprats with garlic aioli and potted Scottish peppered mackerel, and main courses of Scottish rope-grown mussels and Loch Fyne smoked salmon fishcake. It’s not all seafood though – meat-lovers can choose hero dishes of half roast chicken. For dessert, tuck into a sticky date cake with poached pineapple and ginger and a dollop of raisin ice cream.
The set menu, available from 6pm, varies weekly and offers remarkably good value, priced at just £11.95 for two courses and £13.95 for three. From the main menu, you can also choose to sample Loch Fyne langoustines and decadent dishes like whole baked lobster. Meatier choices include Aberdeen Angus chargrilled burger with chips. There’s something to suit every palate and every pocket at Loch Fyne.
