The original Brasserie Blanc was opened by Raymond Blanc in 1996 and has become a firm favourite with locals and visitors to Oxford alike - Raymond himself is a regular at the brasserie most Sundays. Raymond's aim has always been to offer simple, good-value and authentic French food inspired by the dishes cooked by his mother in his native Besançon. Coupled with friendly professional service in a relaxed atmosphere, this is the perfect destination to dine with friends and family. The à la carte menu changes with the seasons, using the best ingredients each one has to offer, and you will find it studded with beautifully cooked versions of Raymond's classic dishes. Start with butter sizzling Burgundian snails or a classic salmon tartare, followed by whole citrus-scented baby turbot or boeuf Bourguignon; or choose from the selection of free-range Cornish steaks. There is also the excellent value Raymond Blanc set menu which is available from noon until 6.30pm for £11.95 for two courses and after 6.30pm for £14.45. Kids are welcomed with three different menus: half portions for older children and a two-course simple menu for the under-eights, whilst babies can enjoy free organic homemade purée.
