Sitting in one of the most famous tourist attractions in the city, the glamorous Ashmolean Dining Room draws diners from all over. As the first rooftop restaurant in Oxford, it's a unique retreat in a bustling city and provides a spectacular mealtime setting.

When the sun comes out, head outside for cocktails and sharing platters of cured meat, cheese or tapas-style dishes. The fantastic main menu has a modern European feel, with the head chef taking inspiration from fresh, seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. Taste sensations include the pan-fried fillet of sea bass with citrus butter, and lamb shank with minted vegetable ragout. Vegetarians will love the primavera risotto and salad of asparagus with Parmesan. To end, the raspberry chocolate brownie with white chocolate sauce and the rhubarb fool with ginger sable biscuits are to die for.

The wine list is broad, with over 60 wines hand-picked from around the world. As well as the extensive à la carte menu, there are also menus available for special occasions throughout the year, including a great Christmas evening menu offering two or three courses, with prices starting at just £25. Bookings for parties and larger groups are also welcomed - contact Ashmolean's helpful team for details.
