The Red Shoot Inn & Brewery
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
However, it's not just the location that makes this particular restaurant worth a visit - the food impresses too. Its comforting mix of pub favourites such as burgers, fish and chips and sausage and mash mixes well with its lunchtime treats of jacket potatoes, ploughman's and sandwiches. A variety of daily specials similarly live up to the pub's high standards - the delectable sweet potato lasagne was succulent, while the homemade banoffee pie was one of the best we have ever tasted.
By far the biggest point of interest, as well as the standout feature about The Red Shoot Inn, has to be the microbrewery located at the back of the building. A fascinating spectacle to view, it also produces some thirst-quenching drinks - namely Muddy Boot, Tom's Tipple and Forest Gold - certainly adding a unique element to an already lovely establishment. Also adjacent to the pub is a local campsite, which is open from March 1st to October 31st.
Add in the pub's live band nights every Sunday, quiz nights on Thursdays as well as two annual beer festivals and you have a retreat that will suit your entertainment needs whatever time of year you wander down. The local cows and ponies certainly seem to like visiting too. Watch as they stroll casually by the windows, adding to the sense that The Red Shoot is a true country haven and a top-notch place to spend a few relaxing hours.
