The Mortimer Arms
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
We were greeted with a warm welcome when we entered The Mortimer Arms on a chilly March evening. As we walked through the cosy bar towards the spacious restaurant, the heat from the feature fi replace felt incredibly inviting. We were expertly guided through the extensive menu by the staff, settling on an innovative starter of falafel fritters in crispy curried batter, with coriander and lemon hummus to share. The main dishes were more than generous. I was delighted with my choice of the crispy pan-fried sea bass fillets with crushed new potatoes in creamy saffron and white wine sauce. It was a tough choice for dessert, but I couldn’t resist the crème brûlée with homemade shortbread. The spacious beer garden is perfect for al fresco dining on a warm summer’s evening. Accommodation is also available if you fancy a weekend away.
