16 High Street, Lyndhurst, SO43 7BD

Having recently opened, Del Rio – named after the landmark bridge that links Texas and Mexico – has quickly established itself as a popular and exciting addition to Lyndhurst’s dining scene. Brought to the area by the owners of four established country inns, their restaurant experience and skill is evident in the spacious environment, contemporary decor and delicious, extensive menu. Guests can choose from an enticing range of Texan and Mexican dishes or from the list of street foods, which are served as small plates and therefore perfect for mixing, matching and sharing.

Del Rio is certainly somewhere to bring your appetite. We chose starters of baked potato skins and empanadas – crisp deep-fried pastries filled with pork and beef. Feeling spoilt for choice, we opted for mains of baked sea bream served on chorizo, bean and prawn jambalaya, and sizzling spiced chicken fajitas accompanied by tortillas, salsa, sour cream, cheese and guacamole. With just enough room left for dessert we concluded our fantastic meal with blueberry pancakes and a gorgeous pecan pie; both served with hand-churned salted caramel ice cream.

With plenty of variety on the menu, diners can return time and again and always try something slightly different. Everything is homemade and freshly prepared – the kitchen team clearly knows their craft. Combined with a friendly and welcoming front of house team, Del Rio is a place to be experienced.
