This 1790 alehouse, originally built for Cherkley Court workers, is slightly off the beaten track - and all the better for it. Stunning views have been enjoyed by patrons for over 200 years, as the pub overlooks the beautiful Mole Valley. You'll find the King William IV just off the main Leatherhead to Dorking road, behind the Frascati restaurant.

Outside, the rustic terrace and garden make the most of the surrounding countryside and provide a wondrous setting for alfresco dining and drinking. The interior is traditionally decorated, light and bright, complete with a cosy bar - serving plenty of real ales and a varied wine list - and crackling open fire.

To eat, you'll find an award-winning menu comprised of quality ingredients, served by courteous staff. Everything is carefully sourced from the surrounding area: meat is from Nash Farm in Milford; fruit and veg from Secretts Farm; and bread from the renowned Westcott Bakery. Dishes are prepared from scratch in-house by skilled chefs. Expect to find the à la carte brimming with starters such as king scallops seared and served on towers of crayfish in a lobster saffron sauce with a timbale of Mediterranean rice, and delicious mains like roasted duck a l'orange served with seasonal vegetables and Dauphinoise potatoes. There's an excellent Sunday lunch menu, too, so make sure you reserve your table. To keep you entertained during the summer, live jazz is performed in the garden on Sundays.

A charming place to escape the rat race for a few hours, King William IV is a well-kept secret, only to be shared with your very best friends
