Chinese and East Asian
The friendly staff are on hand to talk you through the extensive and varied menu, helping you to select a mouth-watering array of dishes - nothing is too much trouble for them, and they take great delight in recommending their favourite dishes. A particular favourite of mine, and a dish I plan to return for as soon as possible, is the sizzle ayam - chicken stir-fried in ginger, spring onions and herbs, served on a sizzling hot plate. For those who prefer things a little spicier however, why not try the prawn sambal udang in spicy sambal sauce - it will not disappoint. The delectable range of seafood on offer will transport you to some of Asia's most beautiful beaches. The baby squid is beautifully seasoned, while a delicious peanut and oyster sauce accompanies a dish of beautifully prepared Indonesian vegetables. Set menus are available, including a fantastic vegetarian menu that would tempt even self-confessed carnivores, and there's a great takeaway service. The comprehensive wine list offers a wide selection of bottles, and there are also a number of traditional Asian beers available. For those who can muster up the appetite for dessert (and I urge you to find room) there's a superb array of frozen desserts and fruit ice creams on offer.
Little Penang really is worth a drive out of town. Whether you're looking to throw a party, hold an unusual corporate event or perhaps just enjoy a relaxing evening with friends, this place has a great deal to offer. With adventurous cuisine as well as more traditional fare, Little Penang has all bases covered, with a children's menu also available on request.
