Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
After perusing the menu in the traditional bar, choose from the two restaurants available. You can either eat in the main dining room (which interestingly sits on the Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire divide) or the smaller Dungeon Room which can be reserved for private parties, functions etc.
The kitchen prides itself on using all fresh ingredients with everything made from scratch. Thus, all the dishes can be mixed and matched to suit, and any fish in season is available given twenty-four hours notice. Wines range from the house Riesling Intro Number 2, to the more complex 2003 Chablis Ac, Ropiteau Fr'res.
I settled for the roasted Mediterranean goat's cheese filo tart to start, a divine blend of textures and taste. This softened the palate for the best eight ounces of swordfish steak I have ever experienced - rich and tender, served with mouth-watering cheese and garlic potatoes.
The dessert menu is equally impressive with hot and cold filling and stylish dishes (we recommend the iced coffee and almond cookie parfait).
With a consistently dynamic choice of food, a wide selection of wine and a vast amount of small features that make one's stay at The Weathercock ever more enjoyable, this establishment comes highly recommended.
