Nestled in the charming village of West Hoathly, you’ll find The Fox. This delightful pub boasts friendly staff and quirky decor – think colourful bottles hanging overhead, and a floor-to-ceiling pillar of precariously stacked books. Those who visit rave about The Fox – it’s no wonder they’ve received numerous accolades, including several TripAdvisor Certificates of Excellence as well as a spot in the British Real Ale Guide.
Those dining have the choice of two regularly changing menus, featuring The Fox’s interpretation of pub classics and a range of modern British dishes. To start, I tucked into the perfectly cooked seared breast of wild duck accompanied by chilli jam, while my companion ordered the grilled garlic king prawns. We followed with whole partridge roasted with bacon, and a flavoursome onion tarte Tatin with blue cheese salad. I ended the meal with an immensely enjoyable coconut rice pudding, and also sampled a few forkfuls of my companion’s superb treacle tart. The attentive service throughout the meal ensured we felt thoroughly welcome.
The traditional Sunday roast is always popular, and serves a selection of succulent meats with all the trimmings. Keep an eye out for their fantastic events and themed evenings, including live music, pizza night, ukulele sessions and a monthly quiz. You can even treat a loved one to a Fox gift voucher so they can experience this exceptional venue too.
