Located in central Beckenham, the award-winning Big Catch has served sustainably sourced, freshly prepared Kentish produce for over 20 years. More than your average fish and chip shop, the varied menu features a selection of favourites including cod, plaice and haddock alongside unique options such as rock or skate. Fish is grilled, poached, steamed or fried in groundnut oil and served alongside a variety of sides. The weekly changing specials menu may include dishes like hake with chorizo, and there’s a tempting lunchtime offer every Monday to Thursday where diners can enjoy cod, chips and a cup of tea for £5.95, from 11am to 5pm. On our visit, both the rock and the skate came in thin, crispy batter and the hand-cut chunky chips boasted a delicious crunch while being hot and fluffy inside. The Big Catch prides itself on serving the best the ocean has to offer alongside quality classics including retro jumbo fish fingers, and homemade gourmet burgers, as well as a great breakfast menu with a difference.
