The White Horse

0.5 miles
High Street, Whitwell, Isle of Wight, PO38 2PY
The village of Whitwell is harbouring its own little piece of Isle of Wight history. Solidly built of stone in 1454, The White Horse is very much still standing, having been given a new lease in recent years by dedicated owners. Brightly white-washed with numerous improvements made since 2009, this traditional inn is truly welcoming, thanks to the family team behind the bar. Together, they have built a reputation for pulling an excellent pint of real ale and serving only the very best Island produce in a variety of expertly composed dishes.

Award-winning, traditional pub fare is the name of the game at The White Horse, with the chef particularly adept at serving the perfect juicy steak, although you will also discover Indian-inspired curries, gluten-free creations and vegetarian meals. Early birds will also be impressed to find a breakfast menu served every day from 10am until midday. Opt to enjoy your meal or pint of Yates' or Goodards in the cosy bar, the restaurant, or in the large beer garden, complete with play area for little patrons.

Just two miles from beautiful Ventnor Beach, The White Horse has plenty to keep you amused, with dartboard, pool table, rings and a Monday night quiz. It also boasts facilities to cater for private functions, so it's no wonder locals and tourists all sing the praises of this smashing historic pub
