The Crown Inn
The Crown Inn, in the village of Dial Post, is co-owned by Penny and James Middleton-Burn. A 16th-century coaching inn sitting opposite the village green, the pub warmly welcomes both people and dogs, and has a large beer garden and patio for summer drinking and dining. The Crown Inn has a strong reputation for the excellence of its homemade food. Chef-proprietor James supports local farmers and producers, and prepares fresh, seasonal dishes, while Penny is the fourth generation of a Dial Post farming family.
There is a daily menu that includes some ever-popular Crown favourites and a 25-per-cent-off early-dining option, while on Sundays it’s all about the roasts. Supporting local breweries and offering a choice of real ales and an interesting wine list, The Crown Inn is a must for food and drink lovers.
On the last Monday of every month the pub runs a popular and lively charity quiz night, as well as hosting a monthly curry night every second Thursday. They also host a vintage and classic car lunch on the third Friday of every month, with some wonderful motors on show. There are two bed-and-breakfast rooms in the old stable block next to the pub garden, and James provides an extremely tasty full English. The Crown Catering Co. is the pub’s outside catering arm, covering events that range from private dinner parties to wedding receptions.
