The Café by the Lake
Positioned on the idyllic Sumners Lake at Sumners Ponds Fishery & Campsite, The Café by the Lake is a lovely café, restaurant and bar in the picturesque village of Barns Green. One of the main reasons The Café is so popular is its varied menu of British classics, which sit alongside a range of burgers and light bites. Try the baked Camembert with grapes and a warm crusty roll, followed by the Lake Bangers & Bubble: a trio of butcher’s sausages served atop a bed of bubble and squeak with rich onion gravy. The array of drinks includes real ale, beer, cider, and a good selection of wines and spirits. If you’re stopping by in the late afternoon, Granny Betty’s Afternoon Tea – a special menu dedicated to the woman who helped found Sumners Ponds – is served from 3pm daily. Stunning views over the lake afford the venue an unrivalled setting, but it’s the fantastic food and drink that keeps customers returning. You can book online via their website.
