The Old Tollgate
The Old Tollgate Hotel boasts one of the best locations West Sussex has to offer. Just a short drive from Brighton, the hotel is set within the quaint village of Bramber on the doorstep of the South Downs Way, in the beautiful South Downs National Park. You can expect wonderful customer service and supreme comfort while enjoying the hotel’s olde-worlde charm.
The restaurant’s award-winning carvery, established for 40 years, is served for lunch and dinner every day and throughout the day on Sunday. There is always a choice of succulent roast beef, turkey, pork and gammon, accompanied by perfect Yorkshire puddings and a daily changing selection of fresh seasonal vegetables. A fish dish is available daily, alongside three vegetarian options such as mushroom Stroganoff or butternut squash casserole. Portions are generous, but try to save room for the impressive array of over a dozen desserts, all homemade on-site. The excellent-quality food is locally sourced wherever possible, and complemented by an extensive selection of wine and soft drinks, as well as beer from local Sussex brewery, Dark Star.
This privately owned 38-bedroomed hotel was awarded Best Western’s International Quality and Service award for 2017 and holds a silver rating from Visit Britain for service and hospitality. A range of function rooms make it a popular choice for celebrations and civil wedding ceremonies.
