Ye Olde Dog & Badger

Surrounded by beautiful countryside, near the River Thames, is Ye Olde Dog & Badger. This recently refurbished, cosy bar and restaurant serves delicious home-cooked fare the whole family will enjoy. The 14th-Century inn promises a warm welcome; with chatty staff, a relaxed atmosphere and charmingly mismatched furniture, it's a homely place to enjoy something from the daily changing menu. To start we had Scotch-egg terrine, a truly unique dish created by the chef. Then came juicy gammon steak and their famous fish pie - packed with fish and prawns in a wonderfully creamy sauce, it's no wonder the regulars complain if it's off the menu. The homemade meringues are another local favourite, thanks to their perfectly sticky centre. There are ales and fine wines to sample, as well as live music and quiz nights.
