Ye Olde Ship Inn

0.5 miles
Portsmouth Road, St Catherine’s, Guildford, GU2 4EB

Opening a pub is a dream-come-true for Jeremy and Jenny, the new owners of Ye Olde Ship Inn. With its authentic country feel, Ye Olde Ship wouldn’t be out of place in the rural counties of Devon or Cornwall, but you’ll find this gem in the village of St Catherine’s, just outside Guildford. Upon arrival, you’re guaranteed a warm welcome from the hospitable team and the cosy atmosphere will have you feeling right at home. Dogs curl up by the roaring fire during winter time and exposed beams and floorboards emphasise the rustic charm of this 400-year-old pub. Outside, you’ll find the charming garden – the perfect resting place after a walk.

Despite its traditional appearance, Ye Olde Ship’s menu is an ode to Italy. When the current owners purchased the pub back in November 2017, they inherited a traditional pizza oven and this has been put to good use, with the pub building an excellent reputation for its unique and delicious pizzas. You’ll find no Meat Feasts here. Instead, options range from the Polpette, which is topped with chilli flakes, meatballs, pepperoni, sliced peppers and shaved Parmesan, to the Little Fish with anchovies and capers. Booking in advance at this popular eatery is strongly encouraged.
