Aldershot Road, Guildford, GU3 3AA
Situated in the heart of the Surrey countryside, just a stone’s throw from the amenities of historic Guildford, The Cricketers is a pretty country pub offering delicious traditional pub fare and a warm welcome, seven days a week. Having undergone a number of changes in the past few years, The Cricketers returned to its roots in late 2017. With locals who have loved it for decades at the helm once again, the pub is renowned for its generous, mouth-watering Sunday roasts, great beer, friendly atmosphere and large, pretty gardens. The pub’s interior is cosy and warm, with large open fires and traditional features. There’s ample car parking for those coming from further afield, but it’s also easy to get to on foot, with Rydes Hill Common on its doorstep. The menu offers a wide range of homemade classics such as bangers and mash, juicy burgers, lasagne and freshly beer-battered cod and chips, as well as light bites, decadent desserts and seasonal specials. All meals are locally sourced and prepared to order by the talented chefs, who happily cater for dietary requirements wherever possible. With a wide range of beer, wine and spirits on offer, The Cricketers serves as an inviting watering hole for walkers and their four-legged friends, who are welcomed with water and biscuits by Benjamin, the pub’s friendly resident Westie. The quirky Wendy house still stands in the garden, providing entertainment for younger guests and conjuring fond memories among many generations of families, who have known and loved the pub for decades. With regular live music, quiz nights, summer barbecues and the facilities to host parties and special events, The Cricketers offers something for everyone, but don’t just take our word for it – visit The Cricketers’ Facebook page to hear what customers have to say.
