The See Ho
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
Once in the sleepy village of Shorne, travel down the wooded Pear Tree Lane to discover The See Ho - a proudly traditional pub with roots dating all the way back to 1645. This country pub has a rich history associated with hunting and hare coursing - 'See Ho' was commonly shouted when one spotted a hare - and this affiliation has continued to the present day. A traditional menu is supplemented with locally caught game, including rabbit, pigeon and duck. Rustic pies are a speciality here, but I decided to try the creamy paté, followed by the mixed grill. Piled high with meaty portions of steak, gammon and kidney, this was accompanied by a generous amount of chips and crunchy salad. The food here is undeniably great value for money, and live entertainment - including a Sunday night pub quiz - makes it a popular destination for locals and visitor alike.
