Arty's at Clarence Marina
Arty’s at Clarence Marina sits on a secluded spot on the Royal Clarence Marina in Gosport, overlooking the city of Portsmouth. It’s a diner’s dream, enjoying uninterrupted views across Portsmouth harbour towards the historic dockyards, Nelson’s ship HMS Victory, Gunwharf Quays and the Spinnaker Tower. Whether visitors chose to drink and dine al fresco on the terrace, or inside in the spacious, contemporary dining room, with its impressive bar, eclectic mix of modern art, quirky lights and sparkling mirrors, guests will be charmed from the moment they arrive.
Warmly welcomed by Julie, we were seated at grey glass-topped tables, where we sipped crisp, elegant pinot grigio, and revelled in our starters – perfectly fried whitebait with mayo dipping sauce, and vine leaves stuffed with tomato and mozzarella on a bed of rocket, seasoned with balsamic vinegar. For mains, my partner opted for a bowl of fresh mushroom ravioli served with shaved Parmesan and lemon and sage dressing, while I enjoyed every morsel of my slow-roasted porcetta stuffed with Arty’s blend of herbs and served with a generous portion of vegetables Dauphinoise. Our culinary dream continued as we shared a giant pot of tiramisu, beautifully presented with chocolate cigarellos. This family-friendly restaurant – offering salads, pastas, pizzas, hot sandwiches and light bites at great prices – is certain to become one of our regular haunts.
