The Osborne View
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
The Osborne View is a relaxed family-friendly pub packed with maritime heritage in the heart of Hill Head. A large open bar features plenty of Badger ales courtesy of brewer Hall & Woodhouse, in addition to a varied wine list and a fantastic range of hot drinks from the ethically minded Colourful Coffee Co.
Upstairs there are plenty of cosy nooks to curl up in and enjoy the sweeping sea views across to the Isle of Wight. Downstairs you’ll find a spacious restaurant area with a 12-seater private dining room that can be reserved for special occasions. Outside, an impressively spacious garden backs on to the beach, making it the perfect spot for a cool drink on a sunny day. The menu features freshly prepared classics like Cumberland sausages, pies, burgers, steaks and Sunday roasts, as well as lighter bites like grilled tuna and spiced crusted hake. Sharing boards are great for a tasty lunchtime treat while tiny tastes are catered for with a special children’s menu.
We chose succulent steak frites – a classic combination of flat iron steak and crispy fries with a choice of sauces and flavoured butter – and lemon Dover sole from the specials board. When choosing between treacle pudding and fruit crumble proved too difficult, we satisfied our sweet-tooth cravings with a trio of mini puds that proved to be delicious. The Osborne View is a great spot for all occasions; for fantastic food, seasonal ale and the warmest of welcomes, it’s the perfect choice.
