Want to experience first-class dining at a fraction of the usual price? If so, head to Avenue 141 at Fareham College. A highly commended AA-rosette-accredited restaurant, this award-winning silver-service eatery acts as a training facility for those studying hospitality and catering, and has recently been recognised as a centre of excellence for food and beverage service.
The restaurant routinely welcomes a number of highly skilled guest chefs from neighbouring regions into the kitchen to host evening takeover experiences. The talented students frequently revise the menus to keep them seasonal, using locally sourced ingredients to produce their impressive dishes. Look out for starters such as fried blue cheese beignets, and fl aked salmon and butternut squash tartlets, and mains like braised beef cheek bourguignon as well as chargrilled chicken breast served with crisp polenta ratatouille and pesto. Divine desserts are thoroughly indulgent – dark chocolate Bavarois with Chantilly cream and raspberries is just one of the tempting options.
The students create themed menus for special nights of the year, with previous events including Rio Carnival, Best of British and French Connection. Drop by soon to sample the latest culinary masterpieces from the chefs of tomorrow.
