The oldest pub in Epsom, situated just on the edge of the town centre, Ye Olde Kings Head is a quaint, traditional pub that is clearly a favourite with locals. There's a real buzz about this busy pub. A team of exceptionally friendly staff will make you feel welcome and the excellent chef will make sure you leave satisfied. On offer is a large selection of classic pub meals - including burgers, sausages with mash and onion gravy and home-cooked ham, egg and chips - and daily specials. On our visit, the specials included seasonal delights such as pheasant, fresh fish and Normandy pork. If all that is not enough, there's a large and exciting tapas menu, perfect for sharing between two or a group, as well as lunchtime light bites.

We found Ye Olde Kings Head a cosy and welcoming establishment on the chilly January evening we visited. Beside a warm, crackling open fire, we began with a starter of homemade chicken liver paté. This was followed by a succulent sirloin steak with a peppercorn sauce and chips, and fresh battered cod with mushy peas and chips - everything cooked to perfection. Although there was a large selection of homemade desserts, we were suitably stuffed and finished off our meal with a cup of Rombouts coffee. The pub also boasts a great selection of ales and a varied, well-priced wine list, which makes it equally popular with those popping in for a drink and a natter
