The Seven Stars
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
The Seven Stars is a hugely popular haven for everyone from families and well-behaved dogs to country walkers and cyclists. On arrival we admired the attractive architecture that linked the original building to the barn and modern dining area. Manager Claire welcomed us into the warmth of the large bar, which is stocked with Badger beer, wine and flavoursome Rocket Espresso to please the most discerning coffee drinkers.
We relaxed in the beautiful dining room and sipped chilled sauvignon blanc as we marvelled at the menu, which has an array of options for vegetarians, vegans, meat-lovers, and gluten-free diets as well as smaller portions for those with smaller appetites. To start, I couldn’t resist the generous prawn cocktail dressed with fruity vinaigrette, while my partner indulged in juicy tiger prawns pan-fried in garlic butter and served with sourdough and garlic mayonnaise. We followed with pressed confit duck served with seasonal greens and a delectable red wine sauce, and spice-crusted hake atop rosemary potatoes and glorious roasted red onions – a symphony of fresh flavours. For dessert, I enjoyed a rich chocolate and coconut torte – a new addition to the pub’s vegan offering – while my partner savoured a glorious coffee and walnut panna cotta topped with caramelised walnuts. I’ll definitely be returning to enjoy a lazy summer lunch on the flower-bedecked patio, or perhaps sample a Sunday roast complete with unlimited Yorkshire puddings and rich gravy.
