Occupying a wonderful seaside spot in Deal, the Waterfront Restaurant is the ideal place for a full breakfast, lunchtime break or evening out. Overlooking the pier, the restaurant is situated within the Beachbrow Hotel - founded at the end of the 18th Century for Lord Nelson's flag officers who would stay in Deal while their ship was berthed there. Husband-and-wife team Ken and Lynn do a splendid job of running the hotel and restaurant, along with talented chef Mark Stallard who works with the finest locally sourced produce he can find. As you would expect from a restaurant situated so close to the water's edge, the menu includes an array of seafood dishes including mouth-watering lobster, delicious dressed crab, and juicy prawns wrapped in smoky bacon to name only a few.

For lunch, the Waterfront Restaurant has a great selection of snacks, including omelettes, panini and toasted muffins. Come the evening, guests can choose from either the vast à la carte menu or the new three-course set menu. Prawn crêpes, spicy pork balls and chicken liver paté are just some of the tantalising starters on offer, while authentic curries, giant Yorkshire puddings filled with leek and pork sausages and Marrakech-style lamb with couscous are among the selection of mains. Various choice cuts of beef steak are, of course, available too with homemade sauces. As if this wasn't enough choice, the Waterfront Restaurant has a further specials board, and every Sunday they offer terrific roasts.

If you still have room after your hearty meal, then you really should indulge in one of the Waterfront's desserts, such as zesty lemon meringue pie or decadent chocolate brownie. The fully licensed bar is stocked with various draught and bottled beers, while the wine list includes some notable French, Australian and Californian labels. Children are always welcome and in the summer you can't beat sitting outside with the family while listening to the sound of the sea lapping at the shingle beach. With an intimate and convivial atmosphere in addition to quality fare, the Waterfront Restaurant is a real winner. Great offers are available for senior citizens between Wednesday and Friday, and all guests can collect loyalty points, too.
