An integral part of the community in the pretty village of Chillenden, The Griffins Head is a fantastic pub, full of character, history and friendly locals. Built in 1286, the building's unique atmosphere is maintained through its original features, great service and loyal customers. Locally sourced meat, fish and vegetables are used whenever possible, and seasonal freshness is a feature of the ever-changing menu. Warming stews, pies and roasts are specialities, while classic favourites such as bangers and mash and seafood chowder are always popular. Seasonal game sourced from the local shoot is a real treat - try roasted pheasant served with homemade grape jelly. Beer is local, supplied by Britain's oldest brewery, Shepherd Neame of Faversham in Kent, while the wine list is comprehensive. Whether you're soaking up the sun in the garden at one of the pub's summer weekend barbecues, or warming up in front of a cosy log fire in the colder months, you're sure to fall in love with this pub.
