Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
The pleasingly traditional qualities of this Grade II listed, 16th-century pub provide a welcome environment in which to relax after a long day. Regulars visiting for an evening tipple converse joyfully alongside happy families and couples out for an evening meal. The friendly and genial atmosphere is instantly inviting.
Following a brief drink at the bar, we were escorted to our seats by manager Daniel. The variety of food and drink is as welcoming as the staff, with starters ranging from cheese and beer croquettes served with rocket, balsamic glaze and tomato and onion chutney, to sumptuous creamy garlic mushrooms. If you’re dining with a group, order one of the hearty sharing platters for the perfect start to a meal.
With a number of classics to choose from, we struggled to decide what to order. Eventually, I plumped for the fantastic spiced squash and chickpea burger, while my partner opted for the equally delicious special of lamb shank on the bone accompanied by new potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Other tempting offerings such as venison Stroganoff, and the baked gnocchi special ensure that we’ll be returning to sample more of the menu. Our desserts of chocolate fondue and classic trifle rounded off what was a superb meal. With food this tasty and such friendly service, a visit to Goff’s Manor is sure to leave you feeling satisfied.
