Hidden in the heart of the Chiltern Hills you can discover the delightful village of The Lee, familiar to many visitors as a filming location for a number of television programmes, such as Midsommer Murders, Treasure Hunt and Pie in the Sky, to name but a few. But who would have thought that in this quaint village, you would find a splendid Italian restaurant and pub?
The Cock and Rabbit Inn & Graziemille, owned and run by Gianfranco Parola with his wife Victoria, is the perfect place for a relaxing lunch or elegant dinner. Surrounded by a lovely garden and sun terrace, this pub is an absolute delight. It has the appearance of a quintessential English country house, which of course it was when originally built, and Gianfranco arrived here in 1985 and renovated and restored it to what you see today.
Inside you will find two bar areas, both with open fires, which add to the welcoming atmosphere and relaxed ambience. The pub has become an ever more popular destination and stop off point for walkers, ramblers and tourists exploring the local countryside. Open at lunchtime and in the evening, food is served at each session with Gianfranco being responsible for the superb menu inspired by dishes from the Piedmont region of Italy where he was born.
His specialities, many of which use the local wild garlic, include beef carpaccio, sautéed mushrooms and toasted goat's cheese to start, followed by Pasta Graziemille, Chicken Contessa Rosa or Salmon Graziemille in dill cream and champagne sauce. To finish there is of course that most famous of Italian desserts, tiramisu, made to Gianfranco's family recipe. Meals can be enjoyed in the delightful Garden Restaurant or in the bars.
Graziemille is dedicated to catering for weddings and other functions and to providing a delightful location and intimate setting to dine with friends. Any event can be specially catered for in a distinctive Italian style. Simply let Gianfranco, Victoria and their friendly, efficient staff do all the hard work while you enjoy yourself.
