Known as the finest dining spot in the Chichester area, Cassons serves up quality British dishes from Wednesday to Saturday, and a top-tier Sunday roast. Owners Viv and Cass ensure each diner is greeted with a warm welcome, attentive service and outstanding food.
The à la carte menu represents fantastic value at a set price of £33.50 for two courses and £42.50 for three. Showcasing the best of British ingredients, the starters include a delectable beef cheek pappardelle with a bone marrow crumb and the vibrant goat’s curd with watercress pesto, heritage beetroot and nasturtium oil. Chef Viv has put together a stunning range of mains, including the signature suckling pig served three ways. Loin, belly and confit are complemented by smoked potato purée, ratatouille and crackling, and the dish is finished with pork and cider jus. The beautifully presented truffle gnocchi is served with sautéed wild mushrooms, griddled courgettes and confit heritage tomatoes. The aptly named Peach dessert is a skilfully presented combination of peach and white chocolate mousse with peach compote, blackberries, and Sauternes jelly. The quartet of miniature desserts is perfect for those who can’t decide. When visiting for a roast, start with French onion soup or tempura scallop and then choose between roast beef, loin of pork, fillet of bream or duck breast. The dark chocolate and hazelnut mousse is the perfect indulgent way to round off a lazy Sunday afternoon.
