The Royal Oak Inn
Set in the picturesque village of East Lavant, just two miles north of Chichester, The Royal Oak is a comfortable and luxurious inn with lots of history and plenty of fine food.
The Royal Oak may be a great deal more than just a pub, but it does offer draught ales and a selection of superlative pub food. It is also known as one of the best places to eat in the Chichester area, serving contemporary European food with a sense of fun. Choose from starters such as country terrine or be more adventurous and go for the salt-cod Scotch egg with red pepper coulis or sweetbreads with truffled potato. There are around a dozen daily options to choose from across a broad price range. The mains run from light and refreshing to gloriously sumptuous and include South Downs venison, breast of guinea fowl, and a comprehensive selection of grilled fish. All dishes are cooked to order, and on Sundays they do a special menu with the best roast beef and all the trimmings. Food here is seasonal and locally sourced, so it is guaranteed to be exceptionally fresh and tasty.
At lunch there is a set menu offering two courses for £18.95 or three courses for £23.95, as well as a selection from the main menu and daily specials.
