Crouchers Restaurant, Bar and Hotel
As soon as you step inside Crouchers, you can sense that the owners love what they do. The welcome is warm and friendly, the decor cheerful and inviting, and the whole place immaculately maintained.
The talented chef loves to explore his creative side, producing beautifully presented dishes that combine an exciting diversity of colours, textures and flavours, earning the restaurant two AA rosettes. The menus are constantly changing in order to showcase locally sourced seasonal produce. In autumn expect delightful starters such as pan-seared scallops with clams, wasabi sponge, artichoke and seaweed. Main-course options feature sea bass, sea trout and monkfish, and there’s always a lamb dish available as well as the popular beef fillet with salsa verde and blue cheese. Tempting desserts include treats such as white chocolate and saffron mousse, and citrus panna cotta. Don’t miss the traditional roast served on Sundays – it’s the perfect way to end the weekend with friends or family. The service is friendly and professional, and the staff are happy to recommend the perfect wine from their well-curated list to complement your meal.
The bar also serves some very quaffable South African house wine, alongside refreshing beer and an exciting selection of gin. For more laid-back dining, there’s a range of pub classics including fish and chips, homemade burgers, a selection of salads and sandwiches.
In the summer, the delightful grounds help make this a popular destination for weddings and other celebrations.
