Tiffins Tandoori- Kidlington
Indian and South Asian
63 High Street, Kidlington, OX5 2DN
Tiffins in Abingdon is the younger sibling to its sister restaurant in Kidlington. Both boast an experienced team, a host of specialities and delicious, classic Indian recipes. Tiffins' reputation precedes it and when we visited, despite being during what could have been a midweek lull, there was a constant stream of diners settling down to eat and popping in for takeaways. We started our meal with the chef's platter of chicken, lamb and duck tikka, a mini shish kebab and onion bhajis, which was a treat that nicely whetted our appetite without spoiling it. Restaurant manager Ceejay then guided us through the less familiar menu choices - the anarkali bahar (marinated chicken tikka with onion and coconut in a mild, creamy sauce) was a great suggestion, and was well complemented by a side of makhani kumbhi (mushrooms with coconut, spices and cream). In true tandoori mix-and-match style we also ordered a beautifully tender lamb passanda and Bombay aloo. A selection of fruity, chocolatey and coffee-based ice creams rounded off the meal, although there were more traditional Indian desserts on offer too. For a refreshing beverage or two, wines were available by the bottle as well as by the glass on house options, and all the classic beers you would expect were present and correct.
