Don't be fooled by Krishna's unassuming exterior - the food you will enjoy within its walls can only be described as pure Bollywood decadence. This restaurant brings colour, music, romance and joy to the world of curries. Greeted by charming staff, we were offered complimentary mint sherbas - spicy mint soup, which was delicious and warming on a cold evening. In keeping with our evening of lavishness, we chose a bottle of cava to enjoy with our meal, served nicely chilled - a very reasonable £19. The vegetable samosas we had as a starter were crisp, fresh and delicious, and appetisers are reasonably priced from £2.95 to £7.95. All the classics are there on the menu - tikka, madras and korma - but Krishna is the kind of place where you can try something new and exciting. The tandoori sea bass was absolutely delicious - a whole fresh fish served with coriander, mint, green chilli and turmeric - but the tastiest dish by far was the malbara chicken curry with coconut milk, mustard seed, crushed spices, onion, ginger, curry leaves, tomato and tamarind. We also shared a portion of pilau rice and a naan bread. The portions were very generous (what we ordered would have been enough for three or four people) and the service impressive. Do not miss out on this Bollywood blockbuster.
