Pilgrims Hotel, Bar & Restaurant
Pilgrims Restaurant & Bar brings the timeless taste of old England to any traveller searching for a traditional menu and an old-fashioned free-house, pub-style bar. Wholesome, sensibly priced food is supplemented with a fantastic choice of real ales and locally produced wines. The generous meal portions are widely appreciated and the fabulous desserts are not to be missed.
The Marlowe Theatre is their fitting and rather grand next-door neighbour. The speedy waiting service and vibrant ambience makes Pilgrims the ideal place to meet old friends and new before and after any performance.
Pilgrims afternoon teas offer a welcome break from walking the high street and are served every day from 2.30pm until 5pm, starting from £3.95 for a jam and cream scone with a pot of tea. You can transform any afternoon into a celebration by choosing the amazing Champagne and chocolate treat, or settle for a traditional afternoon tea with sandwiches, cakes and scones with cream. Whatever the choice, it is sure to perk up even the weariest of travellers and ready them for their next adventure.
Sunday may be the busiest day for this venue, with their outstanding traditional Sunday roasts likely to make pilgrims of us all. Served all day from noon, Sunday sees the very best and most reasonably priced menu for those hankering for traditional beef, lamb or chicken (or all three, if you wish). If preferred, a wonderfully modern and contemporary vegan equivalent shares centre-stage on a menu that is guaranteed to delight and satisfy in equal measure.
