Ye Olde Beverlie
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
Just north of the centre of Canterbury sits this quaint yet trendy, sympathetically refurbished 15th-century eatery. Upon entry, I was greeted by the friendly, professional staff, who showed me to a table in the rear restaurant. I noticed that the front bar area was packed with customers, which was a good indication as to the enjoyable dining experience upon which I was about to embark. From the very comprehensive menu, I chose to start with spicy and tangy nachos – a generous portion which made me glad that I’d arrived hungry. From the main menu, I was tempted by the steaks, ribs and gourmet burgers, but instead decided upon good old-fashioned sausage and mash with crispy onion rings. Both courses were delicious, in addition to being very reasonably priced. It’s fair to say that Ye Olde Beverlie has gained another fan.
